How did all this start you ask? It starts a long time ago, back in 1987 when I saw an MKI at an auto show in Ft
Worth, Texas. I had to have one. We ran down to the dealer and bought an 87 red MKI. It was the love of my
life, I drove that car as often as I could.
1991 came around and it was time to start looking for another car. We decided we could not accomodate two,
two seaters so the 87 MKI had to go. But for what? We had our hearts set on a 91 Nissan 300Z Twin Turbo, but
the cost at the time was just too far out there for my meager budget. So we decided to go test drive the new, 91
MR2 Turbo. We loved it. Drove awesome and was $10,000+ cheaper than the Z. Bought the one there right off
the showroom floor. Black, with every option available at the time.

In the glovebox I found a card for memebership in the MR2 Owners Club. A club run by
Totota expressly for MR2 owners. Too cool, I joined immediately. It was 1993 when
things really begin to change. I attended my first MR2 rally in Charlotte, North Carolina
at what is now Lowe's Motorspeedway. I saw an MR2 with custom wheels and an HKS
exhaust. I never dreamed........ my first taste of car mods. I had never thought to spend
a dime on upgrades to my car, but I had to have those wheels.

The board had provided me with a wealth of knowledge on how to modify and maintain my MR2. What to
do? Enter Bill Strong. He got Steve's old dbase, started a new board, and we were off and running
again. The board is going as strong as ever and I still perform admin duties whenever required.

Where does it stop? I wish I knew. I still see things I want to do to the car, but it is aging now. Hmmmm,
might be time for a Spyder.........
My first mod ever was the HKS exhaust. It was so awesome looking on my 91T. Best money I ever spent.
Then I had to have some wheels. I bought some 15" ROH Z5s with Yoko AVSis. I was in heaven. The car
looked totally different.
The disease had started........... and I was hooked. Then I made a big decision, I became involved in the
MR2 Board run by Steve Massaro. At first I was a moderator helping where I could, but Steve offered me
an Administrator postion where I took care of the everyday stuff and he took care of the hardware, etc. It
was alot of fun, but very demanding. The board grew from just a few hundred members to over 2500
members quickly until a strange day when Steve Massaro decided to pull the plug without any warning.
Board gone!!!!!

Along came a Spyder. I got the new car disease, I had to have a new car. I started hunting for a Spyder
but could not find the right one. And then, by a weird coincidence, I found the perfect Spyder in the same
town my wife used to live...... Gainesville, GA.

We reached an agreement, hoped in the PT Cruiser on Memorial day weekend and headed for Georgia.
Payed for the car, and drove it back to Texas. So, now I am playing with the Spyders.
